1. Tyre condition and pressure
2. Antifreeze. Top up or replace
3. Oil level top up.
4. Lights. replace any blown bulbs and carry spares
5. Wipers, check condition and replace if necessary.
6. De icer. Carry in car
7. Screen wash, add a non freeze solution.

Well its time to start looking at the costs involved in "Car" ownership. First off you need driving lesons if you are "newby" to the driving world. Lesson prices on average are about £20 per hour, and in my experience it takes about 40 hours of professional tuition to pass. Then there are test fees for the Theory and practical parts of the test, allow about £120 for this. Then its insurance. Are you still keen? This can vary from £500 to £1700 approx depending on age and circumstances. Then maybe source your first car! Fords, Vauxhalls and Nissans are normally the cheaper makes to insure, but check out some quotes first. Just pick a reg number off my site and see for yourself. Tap the reg into a Insurance search engine, and you will get a variety of quotes.
I would suggest that the running costs of your first car would average at £500 to £700 per year. That would include road tax and general maintenance ( mot's services, tyres etc). Car ownership is not cheap these days and with rising fuel costs a smaller engine is a must. I generally stock 1.0l to 1.500 litre cars.
